The 2011 Gandona is a highly concentrated dark purple hue, atypical of many 2011 Napa Cabernets. Initially the wine offers aromas and flavors of ripe blackberry, sweet boysenberry and black cherry fruits, with floral elements of violets and dried rose petals, all framed by a red rock minerality. The wine displays secondary aromatics of sage and anise, with hints of vanilla and cocoa. The structure is dry and full bodied with moderate plus tannins, pronounced acidity, and a rich mouth filling viscosity. The 2011 is impressive now and will show at its peak from 2015 to 2020, and cellar well another 10 years.
