Reflective of the maturing of the vines as they increase in age, the 2015 Encosta is exceptionally complex. The wine evolves rapidly in the glass, opening with chocolate- covered cherry, violet and spun-sugar. Warmer notes of sweet oak, caramel, potting soil and crushed rocks emerge with time. In the mouth it is full and energetic; heavier qualities of blackberry preserve, black cherry, ripe pomegranate and five-spice are counter-posed with vibrant acidity, creating a fantastic tension and length all the way through the finish, resolving in more graphite-mineral notes.
