Vibrant and dark-fruited, the 2014 Gandona shows fresh cut violets, chocolate- covered cherries and blackberry compote on the nose, underpinned with baking spices and dried herbs. Crushed rock and earth develop with time in the glass, characteristic of its mountain provenance.
In the mouth it is dense and energetic; layer after layer of black fruits wedged between cocoa, loam and sweet umami, with small touches of higher-toned blueberry and red currant bouncing along the top. Firmly tannic, the finish is long and unctuous, the fruit persistent throughout.
